CLOUD ENGINEER

Job Description Summary

JR Technologies is looking for Cloud / Systems engineers, who will be in charge of operating the cloud and local infrastructure of our organization. They will work with the IT team to create efficient cloud computing solutions that meet organizational requirements. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting any issues that arise and implementing new solutions as needed.

Role Description

You will be part of JR Technologies IT team whose vision is to deliver personalized, customized experiences in the realm of travel and beyond. A successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. This team consists of system administrators, network engineers, Database Administrators, Cloud/SRE Engineers, Security engineers and DevOps building an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) platform.

Cloud / systems engineer roles and responsibilities involve performing various tasks on a routine basis. These are some typical duties of cloud engineers:

  • Implement, maintain and update our current systems in local and cloud infrastructure
  • Staying updated on advancements in the field of cloud computing to advise on industry best practices
  • Implement innovative solutions to improve the performance and functionality of the cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of the cloud infrastructure
  • Locating, evaluating, and fixing infrastructure risks and deployment problems
  • Periodically evaluate computer systems and offering suggestions for performance enhancements and improvements
  • Analyze current systems to find flaws that can jeopardize cloud security
  • Ensure the protection of data in computer systems by working with Cybersecurity and IT staff
  • Automate specific system operations to enhance efficiency and speed
  • Monitor and support cloud & local infrastructure and ensure that the infrastructure is available, operating and SLA’s are fulfilled.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues in cloud/local environments by examining configuration, checking logs, etc.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation monitoring systems for meeting defined SLAs

 Requirements

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, from Azure such as VMs, storage accounts, Kubernetes clusters, Application Gateways, load balancers, VPN Gateways, etc.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services, Azure Active Directory, and office 365.
  • Advanced experience with Linux and Windows operating systems and systems services.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux file system and general system administrator operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting languages like bash.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, subnetting, VPN, DNS, email / smtp, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of firewall rules on Azure Cloud and services like iptables, firewalld, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery policies.
  • Strong Knowledge of Virtualization technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices to ensure security, while also preventing data loss, theft, and corruption.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and foresee and prevent potential hazards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting.
  • Strong ability to monitor system performance and analyze systems logs to identify problems.
  • Adequate working experience, 2 years minimum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies and use of terraform.
  • Understanding of programming languages, such as Python and Java.
  • Knowledge of VPN technologies
  • Knowledge of cryptography and certificate management
  • Good time management, due to simultaneously work on different tasks.
